about the artist
My name is Jam, and I am an Italian-Canadian writer and illustrator creating out of Ontario, Canada. I have my BA in creative writing, and have been drawing (for what feels like) my entire life. I also have certification in the art of eye-rolling, and making focaccia bread. My professional background is mainly creative writing, journalism, copywriting, and non-profit community engagement. While working across different fields, I have learned that creativity can be applied everywhere, to everything. The best art is so expansive that after engaging, your world is figuratively bigger. Creativity is a gift that I am privileged to have -- I am so excited to get to share it with my community.

During my undergraduate, I found solstice in the boundaries between art and activism. I became invested in local issues such as biodiversity offsetting, Indigenous treaty infringements, underserved communities, animal liberation, and climate change. It took me a long time to find balance in both art for purpose, and art for pleasure. When I am not playing with those binaries, you'll find me cooking up a new vegan recipe, climbing, writing snail mail, hanging out with animals, or in a forest searching for where the sun peeks through the trees.
